After visiting Preet's studio, Tara suggested that we walk along Broadway to the Myrtle Avenue J train stop. Within an area of about two blocks, I saw more memorial walls than I've seen anywhere else, except perhaps certain blocks in the Bronx. 'so sad.

Maya Hayuk @ Cinders Gallery
I almost never get over to Cinders Gallery, even though it's one of the coolest spaces around. I did get there yesterday, though, and I'm glad that I did. Maya Hayuk's exhibit is a real treat. Her elaborate designs remind me of Phil Frost's work.

Street Crush @ Alphabeta
'went on Tuesday with Samantha to Greenpoint to check out "Street Crush" @ Alphabeta. I was glad to meet Jaime Rojo, its curator and author of Broolyn Street Art, and Rebecca Fuller, whom I'd known only through Flickr.

I decide to launch a sketchbook/black book project at Hamilton Fish (NYPL). Here Samantha is posting up sketches by Skore, whose pieces have graced London's walls for decades.
Izzelldin Kojour Suleman
'discovered the the Sudanese artist Kojour at the Black Fine Arts Fair last weekend. I love his use of colors and shapes and his works' distinct Eastern sensibility.
