Atypical @ 5Pointz
While most of the pieces at 5Pointz are exuberant expressions of life, this atypical one continues to haunt me. Tara photographed it.
We Visit 5Pointz
My students were eager to visit 5Pointz. We took the V train from Second Avenue and were there in less than a half hour. The kids loved it! Here they are -- talking to a Berlin artist who's telling them to practice on paper first -- same thing I've been telling them all year! I introduced them to Meres -- they were humbled. We decide to return regularly!

Banksy on Exhibit
I'd been thinking about Banksy. Then I found some photos Dani had taken of his work on exhibit here back in December.

Pin the Tail by Kenyon B
I'm not familiar with Kenyon B, but this is one of his many pieces on exhibit at SHQ (174 Rivington Street) that I like. His graphic satirical style seems inspired by Banksy. The folks at SHQ told me that he's presently based outside of Philly and is known primarily for his streetwear.

LES Street Art
'found this across the street from my school today. My students were very curious about it. Tara tried googling "Cow Hed" but got nowhere!

I noticed this character for the first time this past week while I was walking on Clinton Street. He looks like he's been freshly pasted.

Night of Fire by Mohammed al-Hamadany
I'm not sure how I found out about this exhibit. I think I picked up a postcard last week at the Society of Illustrators. I'm glad I did. This is a small fragment from a brilliant installation of 25 paintings currently on exhibit (along with other work by contemporary Iraqi artists) at the Pomegranate Gallery @ 133 Greene Street through June 21st. Titled NIGHT Of FIRE, it is a depiction of scenes throughout Baghdad during the first night of the American Shock and Awe campaign.

I'd heard about this, but I saw it for the first time this morning. 'wish I could feel progress were possible. I've become too cynical.

Greenwich Village Sidewalk Art
Isaac noticed this on the sidewalk of our old block; he thought it was a reference to the Bloods. I see it as a humanistic statement!
