I'm quite intrigued by the street artists' embrace of Obama. It's tempting to assume that they're just being opportunistic. But I think they may really believe!

Teaneck Sticker
I just had to put this sticker in the front of our house in Teaneck, NJ -- as it totally represents our block. Just about every race and religion is represented on my particular street, and we all seem to get along. While most people tend to prefer to live among "their own kind," some deliberately choose to live on a block like mine.
Whisper on Canvas
'found this at Varga Gallery in Woodstock last week. I love it -- the characters, the background -- everything about it!

Bogota Stencil Art
Whenever I look at this image that Lorenzo shared with me, I am astounded how precisely Stinkfish captured Bastardilla's very essence!

In London
'saw many of these artists' works earlier this summer in the Cans Festival. This should be wonderful!

Tuff City Graffiti
Dani needed some spray cans. I suggested we go up to Tuff City -- as I wanted an excuse to visit! Besides all the great canvases inside, I discovered artists at work in the back. It was kind of a mini-mini-5Pointz. I loved it. Unfortunately I had to be back downtown early, or I would've hung around there for a bit.
Wall / Women's Prison in Mexico
Lorenzo came by earlier with tons of interesting photos from Mexico City and Bogota. Here he is painting on a wall outside a women's prison in Mexico. The character to his left is his signature pirate.
This photo was taken by Ripo who wrote the following account: http://www.ripovisuals.com/MexicoSantaMarta.htm

Found in Woodstock
Lots of peace signs and not much politics in Woodstock -- but I did find this sticker.

Rugman @ London's Cans Festival
I'm still going through some of the photos I took back in June @ London's amazing Cans Festival. Wow! How cool is this --

Storme DeLarverie
I especially like Zito's portrait of gay rights activist, Storme DeLarverie.
FindArticles - The Man Behind Stonewall - Martin Luther King Jr - Brief Articlefrom The Advocate by Charles Kaiser
Zito @ the Chelsea Hotel
'stopped briefly by the Chelsea Hotel to check out Zito's live painting and tribute to gay rights activist, Storme DeLarverie. It's unusual for me to be in a setting where the average age of the guests is closer to my age than to my children's. But here at the Grand Ballroom at the Chelsea Hotel, I found myself among many folks who've been around for a bit!
5Pointz Skillz
I love these colors and lines and the juxtaposition of the character with them. Whenever Dani stops by with his 5Pointz photos, I'm astounded by how rapidly the walls change and how talented so many of the "writers" are.

SoDo Wall
Although there's far too much tagging on Seattle's downtown SoDo Wall, there are some stunning pieces, as well. This one is beautiful.

Seattle Graffiti
Too many graff battles -- as evident in this piece -- mar the amazing SoDo Wall, a legal wall in downtown Seattle. Yet, I'm so glad I got to see it. It is mesmerizing.

Seattle Rooftop Graffiti
I would have loved to get up to this rooftop. I could only see this from a block away. Then I lost it!
Aboriginal Art @ the Seattle Art Museum
My favorite room at the Seattle Art Museum is the one with paintings by Australian Aboriginal artists. I was mesmerized by the forms and colors of every piece on exhibit.
Whitfield Lovett @ the Seattle Art Museum
'quite sure I saw this installation @ the Studio Museum in Harlem awhile back. I was certainly surprised to see it @ the Seattle Museum of Art. It's beautiful.

Seattle Graffiti
After the paucity of "old school" graffiti in Portland, I was thrilled to see this in Seattle. 'love the character!
Alberta Arts District Mural Art
The African-American population in Portland's Alberta Arts District seems to be dwindling, most likely a casualty of gentrification. This mural, though, remains.
Together Gallery on Alberta Street
The folks at Upper Playground suggested that I visit the Together Gallery on Alberta Street in NE Portland. Unfortunately, it was closed by the time we got there. I did enjoy the window, though! These skateboards -- like all of Alberta Street -- took me on a journey back to the 60's.

Disturbing Portland Sticker Art
I didn't know what to make of this sticker -- until I did a bit of research. Check out: http://news.infoshop.org/article.php?story=20070924165413257
Cody Hudson @ Upper Playground
'was glad to discover Cody's Hudson's work on exhibit @ Upper Playground. A Chicago-based artist, he is known -- I was told -- for his bold designs and skateboard graphics. I love these prints.
Upper Playground in Portland
This space is one of the coolest I've ever visited. Everything was enticing and affordable. I couldn't resist buying the Sam Flores tote for $30.00. I loved all of the art on the walls, as well. I have not seen anything like this in NYC.
Sam Flores for Obama in Portland
I had an interesting walk from Powell's Bookstore in Portland to UPPER PLAYGROUND. 'lots of political stickers, some quite "threatening." But there was also a fair amount of Obama stickers and paste-ups. This poster is on the window of UPPER PLAYGROUND -- where Sam Flores's work is everywhere.

Bob Dylan on the Upper West Side
Stencil/Street art finally arrives on the Upper West Side -- and not only is it of an all-time favorite, but by Jef Aerosol, one of the world's top stencil artists.

Francks Deceus @ MoCADA
I discovered Francks Deceus a number of years back at the Brooklyn Museum's wonderful exhibit, WORKING IN BROOKLYN. I loved his passionate -- deceptively simple -- aesthetic. I visited Francks' studio and was moved by just about every piece. I included some of his pieces in the first exhibit I curated at the Abrons Arts Center in 2004. I just rediscovered his work at The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) exhbiit: "Ancient Futures: The DNA of Cultures & Civilizations." This fragment is from a larger piece, "Pilgrimage from Scattered Points." It is stunning.

Steve Powers in Coney Island
These girls are watching a scene that is intended to sensitize its viewers to the inhumanity of the torturous Guantanamo Bay interrogation. These girls, however, left the scene commenting on how "cool" it is.
Bronx Graffiti
It is impossible to walk more than a few blocks in most sections of the Bronx without coming upon something stunning. I found this right off Pelham Parkway.
Woody Allen on the LES
It has been at least a month since I've been to Rivington Street. 'was quite surprised to see this large stencil of Woody Allen with Jef Aerosol's name alongside it.
