I just had to put this sticker in the front of our house in Teaneck, NJ -- as it totally represents our block. Just about every race and religion is represented on my particular street, and we all seem to get along. While most people tend to prefer to live among "their own kind," some deliberately choose to live on a block like mine.

Tuff City Graffiti

Dani needed some spray cans. I suggested we go up to Tuff City -- as I wanted an excuse to visit! Besides all the great canvases inside, I discovered artists at work in the back. It was kind of a mini-mini-5Pointz. I loved it. Unfortunately I had to be back downtown early, or I would've hung around there for a bit.

Wall / Women's Prison in Mexico

Lorenzo came by earlier with tons of interesting photos from Mexico City and Bogota. Here he is painting on a wall outside a women's prison in Mexico. The character to his left is his signature pirate.

This photo was taken by Ripo who wrote the following account: http://www.ripovisuals.com/MexicoSantaMarta.htm

Storme DeLarverie

I especially like Zito's portrait of gay rights activist, Storme DeLarverie.

Zito @ the Chelsea Hotel

'stopped briefly by the Chelsea Hotel to check out Zito's live painting and tribute to gay rights activist, Storme DeLarverie. It's unusual for me to be in a setting where the average age of the guests is closer to my age than to my children's. But here at the Grand Ballroom at the Chelsea Hotel, I found myself among many folks who've been around for a bit!

My favorite room at the Seattle Art Museum is the one with paintings by Australian Aboriginal artists. I was mesmerized by the forms and colors of every piece on exhibit.

Together Gallery on Alberta Street

The folks at Upper Playground suggested that I visit the Together Gallery on Alberta Street in NE Portland. Unfortunately, it was closed by the time we got there. I did enjoy the window, though! These skateboards -- like all of Alberta Street -- took me on a journey back to the 60's.

Cody Hudson @ Upper Playground

'was glad to discover Cody's Hudson's work on exhibit @ Upper Playground. A Chicago-based artist, he is known -- I was told -- for his bold designs and skateboard graphics. I love these prints.

Upper Playground in Portland

This space is one of the coolest I've ever visited. Everything was enticing and affordable. I couldn't resist buying the Sam Flores tote for $30.00. I loved all of the art on the walls, as well. I have not seen anything like this in NYC.

Sam Flores for Obama in Portland

I had an interesting walk from Powell's Bookstore in Portland to UPPER PLAYGROUND. 'lots of political stickers, some quite "threatening." But there was also a fair amount of Obama stickers and paste-ups. This poster is on the window of UPPER PLAYGROUND -- where Sam Flores's work is everywhere.

I visited Francks' studio and was moved by just about every piece. I included some of his pieces in the first exhibit I curated at the Abrons Arts Center in 2004. I just rediscovered his work at The Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) exhbiit: "Ancient Futures: The DNA of Cultures & Civilizations." This fragment is from a larger piece, "Pilgrimage from Scattered Points." It is stunning.
