Sorting through the photos my daughter took on our trip to Paris this past summer, I came upon this one. The walls adjacent to the Fondation Cartier d’Art Contemporain became an open gallery for the city's taggers, bombers and graf writers. It was the perfect complement to its comprehensive homage to graffiti: "Born on the Streets."

Kindred Times and Future Good-Byes
Among the best artists anywhere are the four -- Know Hope, Klone, Foma and Zero Cents -- who collaborated on this project in an abandoned building in Tel Aviv. I would have loved to have been there! MEMORIA CANALLA at MUSEO DE BOGOTÁ
The most vibrant and authentic exhibit of street art/graffiti I have ever seen, MEMORIA CANALLA continues through Setember 30th at CASA VIRREY SÁMANO*Carrera 4 # 10 - 18 (La Candelaria). This photo consists of an installation of sticker collages on LP's. Stinkfish tells me that the entire exhibit is chiefly his and Bastardilla's conception. Brilliant!

From Hoos's Black Book
The youngest writer I met in Bogota is Jairo -- aka Hoos -- a seventh grader. He has been writing since January 2007 and, according to Mefisto, attends just about every graffiti event in Bogota. "Graffiti is living my reality," he tells me. His favorite writers include Stinkfish, Mefisto and Onesto. He certainly has good taste -- in addition to seemingly boundless passion!

The Ephemeral Nature of Street Art
Mefisto took me on Sunday to one of the city's most interesting walls -- a mix of fresh art amidst crumbling debris. We didn't expect to see, though, a newly painted piece already in fragments. Martha Cooper told me that she saw it fresh on Thursday!

The Amazing Mefisto
Mefisto's walls are amazing -- as are so many of the walls in Bogota that he showed me this past weekend. I have not seen anywhere else the successful fusion of so many distinct styles. The walls are, indeed, remarkable.

"Jesus Saves" in Black Book
After seeing so many "Jesus Saves" stickers -- written in its stylish cryptic calligraphy -- all around the city, I was surprised to discover this. I found it while looking through Nelson Seda's black book. 'fun to discover another side to this writer -- I've yet to meet.

Bombing in the Bronx
Walking with Kove and Over from Da Bakery at 1700 Southern Blvd to the Point at Hunts Point, I saw more tags and throw-ups than I'd seen anywhere else. Some were unsightly; others were fun. I actually like these!

From Bishop 203's Black Book
Whenever I spend any time with an artist, I love checking out his or her black books or sketch books. Some of my favorite pieces never leave those books. And, oh, the insight I get into the raw talent that may exist! I especially love checking out Bishop 203's black books -- with everything from meticulous "writing" -- as pictured here -- to his original off-beat characters.

I've been checking out the photos that my son, Dani, took at 5Pointz this weekend. Quite atypical of the pieces on the walls there, this one reminds me of some of the work I recently saw in galleries in Paris. The characters intrigue me; I wonder who the artist is.

Chelsea Street Art
'walked through the gallery blocks in Chelsea with Samantha today after we visited the current exhibit at Joshua Liner. There were almost no new pieces since our last visit a few weeks ago. One paste-up that we hadn't seen before is the intriguing one pictured here. We could not identify the artist.

Ezra Li Eismont @ Ad Hoc Art
The Project Room @ Ad Hoc has hosted some amazing exhibits this year. Among my favorites were those of C215 and Know Hope. The current -- and final exhibit -- in this space features the playful, intriguing work of Ezra Li Eismont, currently based on the West Coast. Pictured here is "Friends Forever."
Young Writer @ Da Bakery
When I went over to Da Bakery earlier this evening, Sen2 was giving some serious "writing" lessons to some of his students, while others were practicing in the backyard. I love these kids and their passion for learning the craft!
11 Spring Street
I could barely recognize 11 Spring Street when I walked by today. There is almost no visible street art. This is one of the few pieces that remains.
