Williamsburg Street Art

I saw this in Williamsburg yesterday. I suppose it was meant to be funny. It horrified me.

Hera in "Queenz Arrive"

'made it into Williamsburg this afternoon to check out "Queenz Arrive" @ McCaig Welles. Curated by Indie 184, the exhibit presents a delightfully eclectic mix of female graffiti and street artists. I particularly liked this piece by the German artist, Hera.

Dustin Yellin @ Robert Miller

On my way to check out Mickalene Thomas's solo exhibit @ Lehmann Maupin, I was drawn into a series of somewhat startling sculptures visible from the Robert Miller Gallery window. 'discovered the artist Dustin Yellin who transforms science-based diagnostic images -- such as CAT scans and MRI's -- into eerily stunning sculptures.

Aiko @ Joshua Liner

Just about every piece in Aiko's current exhibit mesmerized me. This installation, too, is ingenious. The exhibit continues through 5/16 @ Joshua Liner, 548 W. 28th Street.

Matt Greene @ Deitch Projects

After showing Meres the space for VISUAL SLANG 2009 @ the Abrons Arts Center, I decided to walk across Grand Street. As Deitch almost always has something interesting, I checked out its current exhibit of artwork by Matt Greene. 'wasn't too sure what was going on in these pieces -- even after reading the press release -- but I liked their rawness and street art-like sensibility. The exhibit, "Pictures of Women" continues through May 2.

Enjoy Golden Parachute

While walking in the rain from Hamilton Fish Library to the Bronfman Center, I discovered another in the series! This is my first sighting of this one. 'looking forward to more in the series. 'amazing that I discovered the first one on my corner at 73rd @ Broadway -- where I recently sighted a Neckface sticker -- as there's a dearth of "street art" in this area.

Phil Frost @ Jonathan LeVine

Only a self-taught artist could create work as amazing as this! I loved just about every piece in Phil Frost's current exhibit @ Jonathan LeVine. It continues through 5/2.

Downtown Sticker Art

I rarely walk below Canal Street when I'm walking down Broadway. This evening I did and discovered a wild series of postal stickers I hadn't seen anywhere else. This is one of the series.

Found in SoHo Parking Lot

Leaning against a parking lot wall in SoHo was an old battered, bare door. When I flipped it over, I discovered these stickers. Thanks, Samantha, for this photo!

"Work to Do" @112 Greene St Studio

'made my way over to SoHo on Thursday to check out "Work to Do" @ 112 Greene Street. The exhibit is amazing -- one of the best "street art" exhibits I've ever seen! The works of an eclectic group of street artists brilliantly merge together. I'm so impressed! Congratulations to the Combine, Royce Bannon, the Endles Love Crew and everyone else who made this happen.

Bronx House of Graffiti

I'm always amazed by how many tags and throw-ups greet me whenever I visit the Bronx. But this house outdoes them all!
